Lumiphase, the partner responsible for evaluate the deposition method developed by Baldur, Volatec and UoO, gave their insights on the CONCEPT project.
Tell us more about the very beginning of CONCEPT – the proposal, setting up the team, and your very first impressions.
Since the beginning the project was driven by the scientist, coordinating the project and at the same time key person for the innovation underlying the project. It think it was important to get the project submitted (twice !) and accepted. Also it was agreed from the beginning to setup a project with 2 small companies that would have an incentive to exploit the outcome.
How do you think the CONCEPT project will provide a new ICT paradigm and achieve its goals?
Lumiphase pioneered the first “real-world” use case of a technology based on epitaxial oxides. Having a new deposition concept that enable this technology is quite unique, and will address the need of our client for disruptive optical communication technology.
What is the main result that CONCEPT will deliver?
CONCEPT will deliver a deposition tool capable of growing epitaxial oxides such as BaTiO3 on 200mm, which will be evaluated in electro-optical modulators.
